Two days. One shared goal: advancing horse welfare through science, education and practice. Join leading international experts at the Horse Welfare Summit 2026, where Dr Andrew McLean will deliver two keynote lectures and receive the Professor Ingvar Fredricson Foundation Scholarship.
The Horse Welfare Summit 2026 brings together leading international researchers, educators and practitioners for two days dedicated to one common goal: improving horse welfare through science, education and practical application.
The programme blends cutting‑edge research with practical insights for professionals across the equine sector. From equitation science and biomechanics to education, communication and welfare assessment, delegates will gain evidence‑based knowledge that can be applied directly in everyday practice.
Among this year’s international keynote speakers is Dr Andrew McLean, whose pioneering work in equitation science has transformed our understanding of how horses learn — and how that knowledge can improve training and welfare. He will deliver two keynote sessions during the Summit:
- Introducing the Fourth F (Tuesday, 15 September)
- Renovating the Training Scale (Wednesday, 16 September)
Following his Wednesday keynote, the Professor Ingvar Fredricson Foundation will proudly present Dr McLean with the 2026 Professor Ingvar Fredricson Foundation Scholarship, recognising his outstanding contributions to equitation science and his lifelong commitment to translating research into practical improvements for horse training, education and welfare.
We hope you will join us at Flyinge to celebrate this special occasion and take part in two inspiring days of learning, discussion and collaboration with some of the world’s leading voices in equine welfare.
